What the heck is this?!
Adventure pure and simple. We combine world class rock climbing with tacos and tequila tours. Incredible conyoneering with Dia de los Muertos celebrations. Swimming through incredible Spanish limestone canyons with afternoon tapas. Hiking under waterfalls with jungle kayaking.
Can I join the trip with no previous experience?
Absolutely! That’a the beauty of these trips! We have the ability to provide an experience for all levels and abilities! If you’re looking to push it hard or just starting out, we can make it an amazing day out.
Where do I fly to?
To get to La Pena de Bernal and San Miguel de Allende(for climbing and canyoneering) you can fly to the city of Queretaro. For Veracruz (kayaking and rafting, fly to Mexico city. For Rodellar (CLimbing and canyoneering), fly into Barecelona.
Will there be climbing or kayaking instruction or clinics during the trip?
Yes, if that’s what your after. If you are looking to improve your climbing skills, we will have the ability to spend some individual time dialing in technique, be it slab climbing, crack climbing, anchor building or multi pitch climbing.
For kayaking, we can work on ferry angles, eddy lines, dialing in your roll and reading the water. Veracruz is also an incredible place to work on waterfall running in a safe environment.
For the kayaking trips, how hard is it?
Again, we have the ability to make these trips for many different abilities. For the river trips we have to agree on a common itinerary, but there will be options. In general a solid combat roll with class III experience is necessary for kayak trips, email me for more specifics so we can make sure we have the right trip dialed in for you.
What is the cayoneering like?
So fun! Plunge pools, rappels, slot canyons, smiles all day. Not really strenuous, but you’ll definitely get wet. We will have all the gear you need.
Speaking of gear, what should I bring? And what’s the weather like?
Queretaro is blessed with incredibly stable year round weather, but you’ll want layers, including a fleece and waterproof shell. High temps are usually in the 70s and lows in the 50s. Quick dry clothing is nice for active days and a nice change of clothes for dinners out.
For personal climbing gear, we can cover everything (Shoes, harness, helmet) but if you have personal gear, feel free to bring it.
For personal river gear, we can rent kayaks and paddles, all other gear must be supplied by the participant.
A detailed gear list will be emailed out before trips.
Where are we staying, what should I expect?
We have vetted some excellent short term rentals in great locations. You can expect a private room in unique and beautiful home. Some examples here and here .
For trips to veracruz, we stay in the private canbanas at adventurec. With a possible overnight trip to Puebla or Hacienda San Diego.
What can we do in the Pueblos Magicos?
So much! Tequila and taco tours, beautiful plazas, hot springs, churches and interesting architecture. Being in a Pueblo Magico for Dia de Los Muertos should be a really amazing and unique experience.
How many people can come?
Right now we have 6 spots open for the trips. We want to keep the groups small to allow for a unique and unforgettable experience.
What about safety?
Both Queretaro and Veracruz are considered safe travel by the US state department and Queretaro is considered one of the safest destinations in all of Mexico. Having traveled to both regions numerous times, safety has never once been a concern.
Is travel insurance mandatory?
No, but it is highly recommended. World nomads is a great place to start.
